Captain America #193
By Jack Kirby
There’s a conspiracy afoot, as someone is planting bombs across America that makes the population go crazy and turn destructive.
Cap, Falcon, and Leila witness this first hand, and after stopping one such “Madbomb” in New York, our heroes are whisked away to a top-secret location, where HENRY FREAKING KISSINGER spends the last third of the issue briefing them on a gigantic Madbomb set to make all of America crazy - and timed to coincide with the Bicentennial.
Buckle up, kids - I have a feeling we’re in for a wild ride.
Return Of The King Alert: Jolly Jack Kirby returns as writer and artist on Captain America, and no matter how much I might have liked Frank Robbins’ work, it’s great to see Kirby’s angular style back on Cap; it’s like slipping on a favorite old sweater.
Writing On The Wall Alert: This issue marks the return of the titling “Captain America” - the Falcon has been dropped from the marquee.
